LPCA FTCA University
June 1 - 2, 2017

The Louisiana Primary Care Association was recently named by the Health Resources and Services Administration as a Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) University host location for calendar year 2017.  This designation allows LPCA access to HRSA-certified FTCA experts and the ability to conduct a two day in-person training for their member Federally Qualified Health Centers.
Under the FTCA, eligible HRSA-supported health centers are granted medical malpractice liability protection.  A deemed health center, its employees, and eligible contractors working within the approved scope of project are considered federal employees and are immune from lawsuits for medical malpractice.  A patient who alleges acts of medical malpractice by a deemed health center cannot sue the health center or the provider(s) directly, but must file the claim against the United States Government.
This training opportunity will allow LPCA to provide its member health centers, and health centers in neighboring states, with access to important information concerning the FTCA and in-depth training in areas such as risk management, claims management, and credentialing and privileging.

Join us June 1-2, 2017 at the Louisiana State University School of Public Health in New Orleans, LA.
