Welcome to the Louisiana Primary Care Association (LPCA)

LPCA represents 26 federally funded, private non-profit and public community health centers across Louisiana that serve more than 200,000 patients annually. Each community health center has a consumer majority governing board of directors; accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance, and applies a discount fee schedule for families who do not have health insurance or any means to pay for services.

LPCA's Philosophy
We believe that services must be:
  • Culturally competent
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Community oriented
  • Collaborative
  • Professional
  • Caring
  • Ethical
SCOPE of SERVICES
There are 87 grant operated community health center sites operated in medically underserved areas in Louisiana. They offer primary health care, dental care, pharmacy services, laboratory services, preventive cares, case management, health education, specialty referrals, substance abuse/mental health counseling, outreach and social services.

Operating revenue for community health centers come from a federal grant, Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, discount fees and other revenue. These community based providers are also commonly referred to as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) because they meet rigorous federal standards related to quality of care and services, as well as cost, and they are qualified to receive prospective payment under Medicaid and Medicare. Community Health Centers are improving health care quality WHERE IT COUNTS!
