Recruitment and Retention Best Practice Model In 2005, a quad-state partnership, which included Debra Welborn with the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers, Kena R. Norris with the Illinois Primary Health Care Association, Alvin Harrion with the Mississippi Primary Health Care Association, and Karin Guye with the Virginia Primary Care Association was federally funded by HRSA to develop a Best Practice Recruitment and Retention Model. This manual was intended to be a guide for best practices relating to clinician recruitment and retention efforts, particularly as they pertain to community health centers nationwide.
LPCA Request for Recruitment Assistance Form
LA FQHCs can download the LPCA Request for Recruitment Assistance Form and submit to the Workforce Development Coordinator for assistance in recruiting primary care providers such as Internists, Family Practitioners, Obstetricians/Gynecologists, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, and Physician Assistants. Other clinical, oral health and behavioral health providers include Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Psychologists. Recruitment assistance cannot began until a request has been submitted to our office. FQHCs are requested to submit this form to the PCA on a monthly basis in order to ensure appropriate assistance is maintained.
Greater New Orleans Health Service Corps The purpose of the Greater New Orleans Area – Health Service Corps (GNO Health Corps) is to sustain and increase access to health care services in the Greater New Orleans Area by reducing the shortage of critical health care professionals through targeted recruitment and retention strategies. The GNO Health Corps offers a variety of incentive programs including: loan repayment, sign-on bonus, malpractice premium payment, relocation expenses and income guarantee in order to attract and retain eligible health care professionals. The $50 million program offers funds to recruit and retain nurses, allied health professionals, as well as doctors and other providers in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines or St. Bernard parishes for three years.
Louisiana State Loan Repayment Program
The purpose of the Louisiana State Loan Repayment Program is to encourage primary care practitioners to serve in health professional shortage areas. For the purpose of recruitment under this program, eligible primary care practitioners include those who are specialty board certified or have completed a residency in family practice, osteopathic general practice, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, or dentistry. Federal Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program
The Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP) is offered to registered nurses to enter into a contractual agreement with the Secretary, under which the Secretary agrees to repay up to 85 percent of their qualifying balance of nursing education loans.
